"Blanket The Homeless" A Rock and Roll Benefit
Thursday, November 16th, 2017
Join us for a Benefit for BLANKET THE HOMELESS with **Matt Jaffe & The Distractions** **Berkley Bronx** & **Rad Dad** Matt Jaffe & The Distractions are a rock & roll band from San Francisco. Cutting his teeth on countless open mics around the Bay Area, Matt started taking music (a little bit) more seriously when Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads offered to produce his first record. Since then, Matt has continued to churn out more songs than he can remember the words to, oversaturate the market with gigs (opening for the likes of Mavis Staples, Wilco, and Blues Traveler), and collaborate with the likes of Chuck Prophet and Tom Higgenson of the Plain White T's. Fresh off the release of their first LP, California's Burning, Matt Jaffe & The Distractions are street-teaming with the best of them to bring rock & roll back to the masses. Rad Dad https://www.facebook.com/Raddadmusic Rad Dad's music fuses retro drum machines and guitar pedals with lyrical themes of love, loneliness, and growing up.Somewhere between dance music and experimental rock, their songs channel the digital artifacts of the city around them with a nod towards 70's psych rock and 80's pop. The band is based in San Francisco Berkeley Bronx https://www.facebook.com/BerkeleyBronx Berkeley Bronx is Ken Newman on vocals and guitar and Mario Ornelas on Percussion and the occasional accordion.Springsteen, Tom Petty, Oasis, White Stripes, Wilco, Black Keys, Neil Young, The Raconteurs, Tommy TuTone (their one hit), Tom Waits, David Bowie, Nirvana, Zeppelin, Dylan, Talking Heads, Social Distortion, The Rascals, Foo Fighters, and a whole lot more. We do it acoustically. We do it electrically, and at times, we even do it comedically ... Blanket the Homeless "Blanket The Homeless" is a fundraising concert. All proceeds going to the musicians will be used to purchase emergency blankets, socks, hand warmers, first aid kits, and other essential items. These will be packaged up and distributed to our friends and neighbors living on the streets of San Francisco. Guests will also be encouraged to take some of these packages with them to hand out on the way home from the show. This program started about seven months ago and since then we have distributed thousands of these care packages throughout the City. This is also a #BeRobin event, commemorating the life and philanthropy of Robin Williams.
