More than any other music, jazz has always been about musicians coming together, melding their individual sounds to create something exciting and new. That spirit is alive and well in the music of Cuban-American multi-instrumentalist and composer Yosvany Terry and French pianist Baptiste Trotignon. Their Ancestral Memories quartet, also featuring Yunior Terry and drummer Clarence Penn, mines the sounds of the Caribbean, New Orleans and French Louisiana and transforms these traditions with a 21st-century jazz sensibility. Terry and Trotignon have both been praised for their boundary-pushing originality; now see what happens when they come together at the OBERON in Cambridge.
