Brass instruments are part of the musical fabric of Christmas, and in this concert, Septura’s spotlight focuses on the highlights – some familiar, some not – of the rich and varied Christmas canon.

The seasonal celebration of Christmas – with its broad themes of renewal, God made flesh, and the saviour of all mankind – has been the inspiration for so many great musical masterpieces through the centuries.

Septura explore some of the most enduring, in a wide-ranging programme spanning five centuries of music, including Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Handel’s Messiah, and Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker. Where years of repetition have dulled the impact of these wonderful works Septura illuminate them afresh, casting them in a brand new light through the unique and uplifting sound of the brass septet.
