Five musicians from the UK’s leading string orchestra show that small can be just as powerful as large, by performing some of Mozart and Brahms’ most accomplished works: their string quintets.

Join them as they share two of their favourites – Mozart’s perfectly poised quintet in C major, and Brahms’ gutsy, romantic adventure through contrasting musical styles.

Renowned for their innovative performances, Scottish Ensemble have developed a special addition to this programme of quintets for Glasgow Cathedral Festival: the music will be framed by short texts curated by theatre and opera director Stasi Schaeffer, giving context and contour to the music, and showing glimpses into the lives of both composers.

Programme:
Brahms - String Quintet No.1 in F major
Mozart - String Quintet in C major (K515)
Texts curated by Stasi Schaeffer
