Country singer/songwriter Kaitlyn Baker will perform at the Virginia pre-gubernatorial debate reception for GOP candidate Ed Gillespie in Wise, Virginia, on Sunday, October 8. The reception, which is free and open to the public, will take place at The Inn at Wise, on the evening before the final debate between Mr. Gillespie and his Democratic opponent, Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam. Baker’s performance will include songs from her upcoming EP “Blackbird.” The Virginia native has been called a new “coal miner’s daughter.” Her ballad “Coal Train” was included in the 50th Anniversary ACM Awards ZinePak, and her single “Heart of Appalachia” is the official theme song for tourism in Southwest Virginia. Huffington Post named Baker among “Top 10 Country Artists to Watch in 2017.” Her credits include Country Jam Colorado, the Riverbend Festival, the Findlay Market/Cincinnati Reds Opening Day Parade and the nationally syndicated television concert series “Song of the Mountains.”
