The name of Clarence Bekker lies among the hidden treasures of Barcelona. This flying Dutchman, whose career now stretches back more than 30 years, was “discovered” in 2006 by the American producer Mark Johnson while he was singing with his guitar in the streets of Barcelona. His recording of the classic “Stand by me”, together with other voices, has now accumulated more than 75 million visits. He has become one of the leading voices in the “Playing for Change” music project, led by stars like Bono, Keith Richards and Manu Chao. A regular at the big soul and jazz festivals on the European continent, he now appears in the intimacy of the Jamboree with the warmth of a line-up packed with the best jazz and soul groove.
