As a sort of pre-release celebration, Melbourne’s own The Cactus Channel have announced a Thursday night residency this October at Fitzroy’s The Night Cat ahead of the release of their third album ‘Stay A While’, due out November 3rd. It’s been a busy year, with the recording and production of their new album, hyped up shows at Bigsound and 6 dates around Australia with City Calm Down. Support from Braille Face, Eilish Gilligan, Laneous, Danika Smith, Jade Imagine, Plastic, Allysha Joy Quintet, Z*F*E*E & DJ Rainbow Trout with Rhys Newling crafting a specialised live visual show. $10+bf, $12 on the door. Tickets from thecactuschannel.com/tour ——————— The album represents a new consciousness and a decisive turning point. Unloosed from their earlier incarnation as an instrumental soul and funk band into something wilder, a little darker and heavier, the new album sees The Cactus Channel diving in deep to dreamlike soundtracks, electrifying wig-outs and woozy meditations.
