Fresh from their UK tour, pastel-pop reggae sweethearts Rachel By The Stream bring their debut album ‘Situation Positive’ to Australia’s East Coast this spring. A dual release on local imprint Kinship and Bitnormal (EU/AU advocates for live innovative electronic music), the eclectic ten track album spans deep skank, high-octane pop and hypnotic dance and was written and recorded over three years in the pair’s Brunswick music studio; produced by Mattriks and Matt Coldrick (Green Nuns of the Revolution, Pan Electric, Quiet Earth). LISTEN: Originally planned as two EP’s, Rachel says: “We realised we didn’t want to release genre-distinctive works - depicting us as either a reggae or pop act - because we also write material that leans towards techno, house, RnB and soul. We play all of these songs live in the same set and somehow it works, so we wanted the album to reflect that diversity. Our sound is very eclectic and although we were concerned about how that might be received, we made the call to honour our style and just go for it." '100% fresh' - Discobelle 'friggin sick' - Vulture Mag 'impressive' - Tone Deaf 'super smooth' - Kick Kick Snare 'upbeat robot rock' - Triple J 'crank the synth drive, we're going to the retro future' - Pilerats 'neuromantic pop for the galactically activated masses' - Rak Razam
