Hawk Merlin Studios proudly presents the inaugural Subliminal Dog Heads charity event, which will take place Sept. 16 at Walking Man Brewing in Stevenson, WA. We are very excited to announce that Julie Amici and her band will be the first performers to ever perform as Subliminal Dog Heads, and we will be raising money for First Responder organizations in Skamania and Hood River counties. Julie Amici is an amazing performer and we invite the public to a free performance at Walking Man Brewing's outdoor stage and patio. Julie and her band will perform an entertaining mix of country, blues and jazz. (Julie Amici and Dean Mueller were the 2017 winners of the Solo/Duo category at the Cascade Blues Association’s "Journey to Memphis" Competition) The event on SEP 16th is the inaugural launch of our Charity House Band, “Subliminal Dog Heads” (SDH). From the beginning in 2014, Hawk Merlin Studios knew that it wanted to have a charity arm to its business to support the community it serves. It was somewhat of an accident (another story), but we realized the best way to do this was to have a “charity band”. The idea behind this is that HMS would hire a band to perform “as” Subliminal Dog Heads (our “fictitious” charity band) for various events as a way to raise money for various causes. Before the recent fire tragedy affecting both sides of the river, we were going to support a different charity, but after the fire, we quickly realized we wanted to do something for a few First Responder groups on both sides of the river. Luckily, our original charity was very cooperative and understanding as we switched to supporting First Responders. When Walking Man Brewing had to cancel their plans for their SEP 9 Hoptoberfest event, we realized the importance of pressing forward with our event, and it seems even more important now to create the best event possible and have a positive impact on our community and it’s residents by supporting these First Responders that protect and serve us all. With the collaboration and support from Walking Man Brewing, we are excited to offer this event to the public on September 16th. Hawk Merlin Studios is providing the entertainment for the event as it’s charity effort. The Benefit Concert on September 16th is very important to Hawk Merlin Studios and our goals are three-fold: 1) Create and event that entertains and creates a positive environment that inspires donations from the attendees to support our charity efforts, 2) provide and enjoyable and relaxing environment for local residents so they can have a few hours of peace and joy as they cope with the stress of recent events, and 3) to create commerce for local businesses, that have suffered due to the recent events, by bringing in some out of the area visitors that enjoy supporting the Columbia River gorge communities and businesses. We hope the public will come to the show and, and if inspired and/or entertained, will donate at Walking Man Brewing or at Hawk Merlin Studios during the day or at the performance in the evening.
