Born to Nigerian immigrants, Joy Ike’s music, voice, and writing have drawn comparisons to female musicians such as Corinne Bailey Rae, Norah Jones, Nina Simone, Regina Spektor, and Fiona Apple. But her percussive piano-playing and soaring vocals give homage to her African upbringing. Enjoy a fusion of world pop and soul music with the Joy Ike Trio. The MAVUNO Festival was created 21 years ago by a group of local citizens and art enthusiasts who were inspired to highlight the African American community in Sewickley and the surrounding areas. Each year, the MAVUNO Festival provides educational and cultural experiences for community members including exhibitions our gallery, musical performances highlighting the best talent our region has to offer, as well as lectures and workshops for all ages. We are thankful for the opportunity to create this programming each year in celebration of African American art, culture and history in our region. Join the Joy Ike Trio
