November 2nd 5-9pm 5-6 pm- Artist tour of altares 6-7pm- Procession 7-8 pm- Mariachi Las Coronelas 8- 9 pm- Patricia Vonne EVENT DESCRIPTION: Pearl Park will be transformed into the rich traditional Mexican holiday that remembers family and friends that have passed away with altars/ofrendas, music and a procession. Activities over the two days will include processions, a performance by Patricia Vonne, youth conjunto and mariachi ensembles, a children's crafts area with papel picado and sugar skull making, face painting, a photo booth, traditional dancers, community arts and theatre groups. The celebration will take place on November 1st and 2nd. The first day will be focused on children’s workshops and performances. The second day will feature a performance by Patricia Vonne and the all-female mariachi group Las Coronelas. San Antonio artists will create ofrendas/altars to iconic San Antonians and community groups will perform. Arts and crafts for children include calavera making, paper flowers, flower crowns, face painting, sugar skull and papel picado making. A large scale community altar will be created where all are welcome to contribute to it with flowers, photos, and remembrances.
