Elvin Bishop’s Big Fun Trio with Wee Willie Walker and Terrie Odabi with the Anthony Paule Orchestra

This double-bill features Elvin Bishop’s Big Fun Trio features Bishop’s down-home delivery, deep blues picking and slide guitar playfully meshing with Bob Welsh’s piano and guitar licks and Willy Jordan’s soul singing and propulsive cajon playing. Along with Bishop will be soul singer Wee Willie Walker, the winner of two 2016 Living Blues Music Awards and Critic’s Poll Comeback Artist of the Year joined by Bay area vocalist Terrie Odabi, both backed by the Anthony Paule Orchestra, a full eight-piece soul band.

A pre-concert conversation with Elvin Bishop and Dick Shurman will take place at 7pm P.M. in the Performance Hall and is free with a ticket to the concert. The Logan Center Bluesfest, October 13-15, is an annual public celebration created to honor the South Side roots of the blues’ tradition with concerts, workshops, film, food, and conversation and will feature local and national musicians and artists in spaces throughout the Logan Center. The festival features a series of performances by musicians that reflect the diverse history of the blues tradition; a major archiving program to capture the stories of local and national blues artists; a photography exhibiton; and workshops and educational programming to inspire the next generation of blues musicians and aficionados.
