Be a part of San Francisco Opera's extraordinary 2017-18 season with one of four ticket packages, each featuring three of the company's enthralling performances at the War Memorial Opera House. Passion knows no boundaries in Verdi's "La Traviata", where a common man's love affair with a Parisian courtesan ends in tragedy and disaster for both of them. Set in ancient China, Puccini's "Turandot" is the story of the exiled Prince Calaf's attempts to win the heart of the cold Princess Turandot by solving three riddles, where the penalty for a wrong answer is death. A brutal story of revenge, Strauss's "Elektra" finds Elektra, the oldest daughter of the late King Agamemnon, plotting a bloody and destructive campaign of revenge against her father's killers -- one of whom happens to be her mother. Massenet's "Manon" follows the misadventures of two young lovers as they tangle with the toast of Parisian society, inviting dangerous consequences. And in the world premiere of John Adams's new opera "Girls of the Golden West", you'll meet a colorful variety of characters caught up in the excitement, greed, optimism, violence and prejudices of a California boomtown at the height of the Gold Rush of the 1850s. And they're all produced and performed by one of the country's best companies.
