Outrageously energetic 10-piece street-funk band Stomptown Brass invite you to join them as they take on an audacious task; to host a funeral for the truth. Witness the colourful exuberance of the Haitian Voodoo-inspired New Orleans jazz funeral as it smashes up against the mournful, solemn ceremony of Roman Catholicism. This is a show both life-affirming and other-worldly. An extravagant, chaotic street party with a dark twist. So get in (second-)line, and follow the blistering trumpets and blaring trombones from the streets of Dublin to the house of God as we ask: is Truth really dead? Free gig in Whelan's was excellent... very entertaining... I'll happily buy tickets to go see the Stomptown Brass guys perform again :-)

Stomptown Brass Biography
Stomptown Brass are an urban street-funk brass outfit from Dublin. With musical roots in the New Orleans tradition of street-stomping horn players, they have spent the last number of months bringing Dublin pedestrians to a standstill around the city. The band focuses on original material composed by trombonist James O’Leary. Add to this original takes on artists as diverse as Outkast and Brendan Behan and you get a band determined to give listeners something they haven’t heard before. If early performances are anything to go by, their infectious grooves are here to stay and the coming year promises to be a stomper! Basically we're a 10-piece urban street-funk brass band based in Dublin. Our set is full of originals written and composed by James O'Leary.
