The Melbourne Cello Festival returns to Melba Hall with a week-long program packed with concerts and masterclasses from 25 September – 1 October 2017. Join us for three evenings of cello and chamber music performances, and our much-loved CelloXtravaganza concert! The week features four performances by leading Australian and international artists, with masterclasses, the lunch-hour “Rising Stars Series," and the Orchestra of 100 Cellos (and Double Basses). In addition to cello works from the canonic repertoire, you'll witness rarely performed duos, works by Australian and Asian composers, chamber music by Schubert and Brahms, and arrangements of movie music for the low-strings orchestra. For young cellists aged 8-15, join us for our special Melbourne Cello Festival Kids Day on Monday 25 September, featuring workshops and performance opportunities for budding cellists.
