What's taking place?
TRAKTOR
Session 1: 18.45 – 19.45 Introduction to DJing with Traktor Pro (Beginner Workshop)
A beginners session in exploring Traktor. We will start with importing songs into the Track Collection and setting up the analysis of tracks for correct beat gridding and BPM identification. We will then explore the basics of beat matching and the pros and cons of using sync. Then onto using Traktor to perform utilising the software’s powerful effects processors and looping capabilities.

Tutorial-style session with Traktor usage Q&A.
No prebooked slots, 10 seats available
Led by Karan (Core Team Applicant)

Session 2: 20.00 – 21.00 Traktor Pro – Come and have a go! (Freestyle)
Regardless of whether you’re a beginner or have been using Traktor for years, this is a chance to come and have a mix, learn or perhaps teach something new to others in the group. Bring along music on a USB if you’d like to mix some of your own tunes!

Space to use Traktor – tutor on hand
No prebooked slots, 10 seats available

MASCHINE JAM
Session 1: 18.45 – 19.45 Maschine Jam Live Jam! (Suited to Maschine / Maschine Jam users)
A room with 10 sync’d-up Maschine setups, one live room, the ability for everyone to sample simultaneously from the live room… what will we come up with? Part sampling and sample manipulation workshop, part live jam, part “against the clock” challenge, who knows what the end result will be?!

Interactive live-jam, with an iMac and Maschine Jam for each user (or bring your own!)
Tutor Tom on hand to assist
Prebooked slots 9 seats max – book yours now!

Session 2: 20.00 – 21.00 Maschine Jam Live Jam! (Beginner friendly)
Similar to the session above, we’ll have a room sync’d up with 10 Maschine Jams, and will be catering for users who have never got their hands on Maschine Jam before. Tom will be facilitating and able to guide you through a basic understanding of Maschine Jam workflow, to begin sampling and jamming together as a group.

MASSIVE
Session 1: 18.45 – 19.45 Massive Drum Synthesis (Beginner friendly)
Jonny’s other job when he isn’t working at MMS is creating samples packs, and for this workshop he will be bringing his expertise to explore the process of creating synthesised kick drums, hi-hats, snares and cymbals. He’ll also be dipping into how to create interesting rhythms using the performer for hi-hats.

Tutorial-style session with Massive usage Q&A and an iMac workstation for each user

BATTERY
Session 2: 20.00 – 21.00 Sampling in Battery (Beginner friendly)
Jonny’s second workshop after Massive will be looking at Battery, again focussing on drums. He’ll be showing you how to take random audio samples and use them to create drum samples inside Battery using Pitch Envelopes and some of the effects inside Battery.

MASCHINE
Session 1: 18.45 – 19.45 Once upon a Maschine (suited to Maschine users)
Music production is about collaboration and building on what already exists, not unlike telling a story. With this in mind, how much depth and dimension can you add to a project in ten minutes? Using Maschine, ten-minute turns will be taken to build up a track with a beginning, middle, and end.

Interactive workshop with Maschine assistance on hand.
Prebooked slots 6 seats max – book yours now!
Led by Gary (Core Team Applicant)

Session 2: 20.00 – 21.00 Exploring the Maschine Group (suited to Maschine users)
A potential future classic in the making, the Maschine Group format is much more flexible and powerful than many users might realise. From drum kits, to multitimbral instruments, to effects racks, to MIDI control surfaces, and content for a full track, a lot can be achieved with just one Group.

KOMPLETE MUSIC PRODUCTION SURGERY
Session 1: 18.45 – 19.45 Music Production Surgery (beginner friendly)
Throughout his 25 years as both a producer and DJ, Paul King has been responsible for many anthems and floor fillers on the hard house scene, with this year marking the 20th anniversary of his first release on TDV. As a heavy user of Native software and plugins, Paul has kindly taken time out of finishing his album to come forward as a core team applicant. He will be welcoming anyone (no matter your level) to bring along tracks you’re working so he can advise on how to improve them.
