Marah in the Mainsail is performing at GMan Tavern with Wild Skies and Distant Brothers! Cinematic is the word most often used to describe Marah in the Mainsail's sound. Precise yet primitive jungle drums set the stage for the eclectic and powerful ensemble to sweep you away into their haunting world. Like oil and water, Durry's gravel voice alongside Mariah Mercedes's crystal clarity form a stirring, yet beautiful contrast. All being thrusted foreword by aggressive percussion, growling bass, and soaring brass. Their lyrics paint a thrilling picture of monsters and ghosts, murderers and thieves, love and guilt, and everything in between. While Wild Skies has carved out their own, unique sound at the intersection of folk, rock and Americana, the band members have come from all different musical backgrounds, each of them bringing a different perspective to the collaboration. That diversity, at its core, is what has helped Wild Skies forge their own path and distinctive sound. With a dynamic blend of folk, rock, bluegrass and world music Distant Brothers brings a unique sound to any project they take on. Their most recent album, Upon Our Arrival, typifies this diversity while showcasing myriad styles and instruments. The bedrock of the band's sound is their ability to join their four distinct voices into rich harmonies. Whether playing barn-burning bluegrass music to a raucous crowd or delicate soul stirring ballads to intimate audiences, Distant Brothers' goal is and always has been to bring people together with their music.
