Marah in the Mainsail is performing at The Smiling Moose with The Lone Pines!

Cinematic is the word most often used to describe Marah in the Mainsail's sound. Precise yet primitive jungle drums set the stage for the eclectic and powerful ensemble to sweep you away into their haunting world. Like oil and water, Durry's gravel voice alongside Mariah Mercedes's crystal clarity form a stirring, yet beautiful contrast. All being thrusted foreword by aggressive percussion, growling bass, and soaring brass. Their lyrics paint a thrilling picture of monsters and ghosts, murderers and thieves, love and guilt, and everything in between.

True musicians live and breathe their music, yearning for the opportunity to both actively engage with their audience and cultivate wisdom through the shared human experience. Folk musicians in particular must then reach deeper into their cultural roots, in order to unearth their motivation for creating music, as well as their identity as artists. There is no greater inspiration than the land on which we have made our home. - Ferdinand the Bull

The Lone Pines sound is influenced by folk and indie-rock music. These elements move together and create catchy, quality songs. They favor an alternative folk sound because of the way the genre allows lyrics to drive the song, mated to a deep and soulful tone. Anyone will recognize their natural ability to play off one another, which creates a comfortable and intimate atmosphere. It is easy to see and hear the amount of passion that these guys possess, not just for their music, but for the art form of performance in general. The Lone Pines’ music takes you into a reflective state and moves you with an often gradual and exciting instrumental build that is sure to leave you with a memorable impression.
