Director-choreographer Pamela Donohoo is known for combining contemporary cirque techniques like acrobatics and aerial work with modern dance in evocative, socially-aware pieces like her latest creation, "Ascension". Now coming to the stage at Highways in Santa Monica, the work delves into the rich history and current struggles of those involved in the black diaspora. Along with being a sought-after performance artist, Donohoo's also a graduate of Stanford University, with a degree in Cultural and Social Anthropology.
