"July Jazz” featuring Brian Simpson, RaJazz, Connie Parker and Sam Rucker will perform a free concert in Portsmouth Pavilion on Saturday, July 22. The show starts at 6:30 p.m., and doors open at 5:30 p.m. A limited number of VIP reserved seating tickets will be sold for the Orchestra. The remainder of the seats for “July Jazz” are free admission, up to capacity of the venue. “July Jazz” limited VIP reserved seating tickets are $20 at the Portsmouth Pavilion Box office, inclusive of fees and go on sale Friday, May 5 at 10 a.m. at the Portsmouth Pavilion Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations, charge by phone at 800.745.3000 or purchase online at www.ticketmaster.com.
Brian Simpson is heralded as one of contemporary jazz’s foremost innovators and pioneers. He has released three No. 1 records and seven in the Top 10 since 2005. “It’s All Good” stayed in the Top 5 on charts for four months. Simpson is performing hits and songs from his 2017 release “Persuasion.”
RaJazz is one of Hampton Roads’s most requests bands, having performed at most of the region’s top festivals and events since 2009. The ensemble is composed of nine superb Virginians, who captivate audiences of all ages with a tasty blend of smooth jazz and R&B.
Connie Parker is the regional matriarch of jazz. Her sublime vocals and piano playing have for decades have been recognized as the best in Hampton Roads and Richmond.
Sam Rucker began as a producer of hip-hop, but has evolved into a modern jazz saxophonist. His original songs have attracted attention of numerous national jazz artists who have invited him to play live or played on his records.
