The Bara Bara Band introduce their twist on tradition with their forthcoming album The Seeds Inside (The Grapes Upon The Vine) Based in South London and Bristol, The Bara Bara Band play a mix of their own songs, traditional British folk songs and old time Appalachian tunes. The band consists of Ruth Jacob on banjo, vocals, bass guitar, tin whistle, harmonica; Rupert Browne on guitar, vocals, bass guitar; Boris Ming on fiddle and backing vocals; and Will Dobson on drums, backing vocals and percussion. Over the past seven years, the band have released two EPs as well as their debut album Escape From Clinch Mountain, receiving praise from the likes of Folk Radio UK, FATEA Magazine and Folk Words. Rupert and Ruth also run the monthly folk club TOOTING FOLK, which has become a firm favourite on the London folk scene. 'a wild feel...a real sense of freedom' FATEA Magazine 'destined for great things' American Roots UK Recognising that it takes a beat to get a lot of people's toes tapping, Pick Yer Feet Up combine the twang of the mandola and the skirl of the fiddle with the emphatic bounce of kick drum and hihat. The two of them take a barrowload of bogus Balkan bangers, a carbootful of krypto-klezmer and to this travesty of Transylvanian twang, add a twist of tipsy jazz. On an expansive night they might also throw in some middle eastern tunes on traditional instruments. We'll even play a morris dance tune, anything with a spring in its step; It's good time music for bad time people. Pick Yer Feet Up are apocalypse ready and require neither mains power nor batteries.
