Laura Cortese and the Dance Cards combine the best of folk, rock & roll, Cajun, bluegrass and pop, with phenomenal instrumental virtuosity and catchy grooves. This dynamic and multi-talented band is led by California singer, songwriter and fiddle player Laura Cortese, ably backed by cellist Valerie Thompson and fiddler Jenna Moynihan. They'll also be joined by a guest double bassist for their next UK tour. With sophisticated string arrangements and rich vocal harmonies complementing Cortese's powerful voice, the Dance Cards are a seriously impressive live act whether on a large festival stage or in an intimate club this is post-folk that seriously rocks!

Doors 7:30pm, concert from 8pm. There will be a licensed bar. The Carlile Institute in Meltham is a beautiful Victorian building with an attractive 1st-floor concert room. This community owned venue is the perfect setting for intimate concerts. There is full accessibility with a modern lift as well as the original grand staircase, and a free car park directly behind the venue.
