What an absolutely fantastic concert in the equally fantastic St Mary's Collegiate Church in Youghal last Saturday. As a Meath Man from Navan visiting Youghal and St Mary's for the umpteenth time, what struck me most was the emotional reaction I had to the musical connection the 3 lads generated with the venue. It was indeed the perfect setting for the stunning harmonies created on the night.
Highlights from all 3 abounded, but both my wife and I were taken by the purity of the whistling and the breadth of musical genres covered. The entrance from the back of the church to start the second half still gives me goosebumps to recall it. Truly a night where "Remember Me" applied to each of Matt, Darryl and James, with the rendition of "The Parting Glass" so appropriate to mark the end of the concert and the farewell to James.
I look forward to the next time and all the better if it might be back in St Mary's.
