A twister may never spirit you off to Oz, a wardrobe may never offer passage to Narnia, but traveling to the realm of the fairies is still possible with "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Under the baton of principal guest conductor Susana Mälkki, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association performs composer Felix Mendelssohn's iconic incidental music to enrich the magical moonlit groves of Shakespeare's beloved comedy. It is in these woods that four young lovers become caught in a quarrel between the king and queen of the faeries. When a group of local rustics are mixed into the madness, the comical snarl of spells seems impossible to unknot. But only a little more magic is needed and, as Puck puts it, "all is mended." Now enjoy Shakespeare's enchanted romantic comedy at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
