With over 80 years of combined musical, storytelling, schools and theatrical experience, world-renowned, violinist and singer Tom McConville and fellow Geordie, multi-instrumentalist and singer Tony Wilson have combined their talents to deliver the very best in folk music.

As a duo they present an entertaining, rich and varied collection of music and song that they have absorbed, developed and written during their long and varied careers, to bring together all of their skills and expertise to display a refreshingly dynamic and unique take on folk music old and new.

With so much performance experience it is easy for them to engage with any audience and link all of the songs with a wealth of anecdotes, delivered with an easy wit and charm that has proven to be one of the many highlights of their shows.

Together they present a truly enjoyable and professional collection of music and songs with an emphasis on utilising all of their strengths and abilities to give the very best value for money.

Having first met in Leeds in the early 70s, Tom and Tony played alongside one another for many years, both as a duo and in numerous bands, having learnt all of their traditional tunes in the Irish pubs and songs from their constant touring on the folk circuit in the UK, America and Europe.
In 1989, when Tony moved back to the Northeast he became a teacher, (later to become a full-time storyteller in 1999), and Tom continued touring to become a successful musician with many bands; Dab Hand, Magna Carta and duos with Bob Fox, Pauline Cato and Keiran Halpin, as well as a hugely-respected performer and session musician in his own rite.

Their paths often crossed, and after a chance meeting in 2010 in Whitby, Tom and Tony decided to develop a selection of stories, WINTER TALES, to present to schools, theatres and arts centres over the Winter months which they continue to this day, with each year becoming busier and more successful.

In 2014 they successfully combined their talents to tour a collection of music and stories in schools, SONGS OF THE GREAT WAR, but it wasn't until the Winter of 2015 that they finally decided to combine their musical skills to perform as a musical duo at a few theatres.

After the great reception they received for the concerts, during 2016 they have rehearsed and refined their repertoire to include music from Ireland, Scotland and America and traditional, contemporary and original songs from all over the world. This year their performances have ranged from folk-clubs to large theatres and have been met with praise and a wonder that they didn't get back together sooner.

Expect to be amazed, amused and entertained by two of the North-east's finest sons.
