biographie:

Touchés en plein cœur par les gammes et rythmes des contrées éthiopiennes, les montpelliérains d’Ethioda font de l’Ethio-jazz leur terrain de jeu musical.
Cultivant une musique dansante et fédératrice, ces amoureux du groove et de l’improvisation alimentent le brasier allumé par Mulatu Astatké dans les années 60, en y incorporant leurs influences funk, afro, hip-hop, reggae & jungle.

Après « Araray », le groupe sort aujourd’hui son 2ème opus « Tezet Reset » en cds et vinyles. Cette sortie d’album est accompagnée par l’association Gaïa Music, La boîte à Sandrine, Ma Case Productions, Le Jam et 34tours / Département Hérault.

Ethioda réuni 7 musiciens d’horizons diverses:
Avec une bonne dose de transe « Afrobeat » conduite par une partie de l’ancienne section rythmique de Fanga (Eric Durand, percussionniste du groupe, et le batteur Samuel Devauchelle), saxophone (Armel Courrée), trombone (Pascal Bouvier), guitare (Baptiste Clerc) et claviers (Daniel Moreau) ajoutent l’aura mélodique au groupe instrumental. La basse est tenue par Romain Delorme, que l’on peut également entendre dans les groupes de rock Volin et Poussin.

Compositions du groupe ou arrangements de chants traditionnels à la sauce jungle, tous les prétextes sont bons chez ces addicts de la transe pour entraîner le public dans la danse, sur fond de solos déjantés et grooves inépuisables !

Groove, devilish rythms, a warm sound and heavenly hair raising jazz electro - do you have a sudden desire to dance?

There is no doubt that the call of the high plateaus of Abyssinia resonates in Ethioda's music. Their exhilarating music invites you to travel elsewhere.
Inspired by the recordings of the celebrated Ethiopian musicians of the 70s Ethioda decided to add their own individual interpretation of the music which largely comes from Addis Ababa.

Having fallen in love with the music and rythms of Ethiopia, Ethioda have put their own mark on Ethio-jazz.
With music that is great to dance to, these groove lovers hold a torch to Multi Astatke from the 60s with their funk, Afro, hip hop, reggae and jungle influences.
