About Konsept The Emcee

Born and raised in the city of Chicago, Konsept The Emcee (born Adiel Jaime III) would spend most of his childhood years and upbringing in the now popular Humboldt Park and Logan Square areas.

With his father spending most of his childhood behind bars, facing both murder and home invasion charges, Adiel was raised primarily by his mother, uncle and grandmother.

Writing and recording music at a young age, Konsept realized he would never fit into any social circles in middle school, considering his family was constantly relocating due to not being able to make ends meet.

In the beginning, the mental and physical abuse dealt at home, as well as the gang warzone that he lived in through his teenage years, is probably what inspired him most to stay inside and create a world of music and therapy.

His first song, ‘Life That I Live,’ would be released on YouTube in 2007 and my name popularized by the underground hip-hop/graffiti and gang cultures of Chicago.

In between then and now, he would lose two friends to gang and gun violence, one to the prison system, fall into a rough battle with depression and eventually grow to overcome his own self destruction.

Konsept The Emcee would go on to perform at countless dive bars and open mics throughout the city, until 2015 when noticed and picked up by talent scouts that would put me on the bill for legendary Midwest artists like Tech N9ne, Bone Thugs N Harmony and Twista.

It wasn’t until early August of 2018 that he would release his first official studio album project Work of Heart, based entirely on that same upbringing and everything that has lead up until here and now with the final song, “My Life Is.”
