About O.n.E Music
Oriana and Eric are most commonly known as lead singers of the popular west coast reggae band Soul Majestic. Yet their experience as musicians and in the music industry reaches far beyond the day they first met. At a young age living in Los Angeles, CA, Oriana was surrounded by record industry greats like soul singer James Ingram and Motown founder Berry Gordy Jr., and was inspired to sing as early as she can remember. At age 5 Oriana began her schooling, singing both classical and jazz. In high school she recorded on such movie soundtracks as Home Alone and Shirley Valentine, and went on to perform in the short lived west coast reggae band Roots Massive. She has since sung back ups for well-known reggae artists Anthony B, Richie Spice, Queen Omega and more. Eric came from a musical family out of Santa Barbara, CA. Constantly encouraged to follow his dreams of music, Eric started bands as early as 3rd grade. His mother (world renowned belly dancer and instructor Shareen El Safy) gave Eric-I the seed of rhythm, drawing him first to the drums. Eric started to sing and play drums in Lightning Bug Johnson (LBJ), a popular Santa Barbara group, and studied as a music major in college. The group then moved up to Santa Cruz, CA where they transformed into Soul Majestic. That’s when the magic between Oriana and Eric was sparked. The two share leads in the band Soul Majestic and after continuous encouragement from their fans, peers and management they formed the side project dubbed “O.n.E”. With a debut album in the works, Oriana and Eric are poised to spread their music far and wide.
Their live set, a combination of mostly original songs (featuring acoustic version of Soul Majestic songs as well as Eric and Oriana’s individual compositions), along with classic and tasteful covers, lend to a highly versatile night of music. Showcasing their unique lead vocal styles along with their tight jazzy and folky harmonies, the dual male and female vocals weave in and out of each other, placing emphasis on simplicity of melody, progression, and expression. Shattering the constraints of genre, their new-found freedom of direction allows O.n.E. to truly express their influences--a combination of Alicia Keys, Jack Johnson, Damian Marley and Lauryn Hill. Married with a growing family, O.n.E. have been described as this generation’s Sunny and Cher. At any given show you can expect the roots sound of two voices and an acoustic guitar, melodica and ukulele, but don’t be surprised if members of Soul Majestic, special guests, or even a full band appear. A night of passion and emotion will circulate through the soulful, danceable sounds of O.n.E.
