AGNI, as its name suggests, started off as a spark on April 23, 2001 at the Vedic Center Hall in Markham, Ontario. Its debut show attracted a record audience of over 800 people. It was the idea of Sylvia Francis, currently the manager of the troupe, to bring together young musical geniuses who were excelling in various art forms, to collaborate and create excellent stage shows filled with pure magic and entertainment. AGNI's spark is now spreading all over North America like wildfire. Within four years AGNI has been invited to perform at many stages in Canada and USA. The band has already performed on several Canadian television networks. In addition, AGNI has performed with many distinguished artists such as Shankar Mahadevan, Manorama, Srinivas, Sujatha, P.Susheela, and many more. AGNI is a musical group that comprises of young talented artists who are versatile with Tamil, English, Hindi, Telugu, Western, Jazz, Hindustani and Carnatic music. It portrays the dream of every South Asian in North America; a perfect blend of North American reality without losing its own rich identity. Their casual style and their bright personalities have made them extremely successful within the past 4 years. AGNI is a young and classy group of guys and gals who, with their charisma and talent on stage, can take anyone's breath away.
