About McRad
Multi instrumentalist Chuck Treece fronts McRad , his skaterock project that began in the east coast 80's hardcore scene in Philly PA. but has been reincarnated in the 21st Century for further shredding. Other active members are Rob Di Joseph and Dave Doran. Their drummer was the late Andy Morris for whom the band dedicates their continued legacy and attempts to make everything all right in his absence. Other former members include Tristan, Ethan, Zeke and John.
The band's 1985 album Absence of Sanity and a new 2007 release called FDR, named after a Philly skatepark are out now Uprising Records, available on CD and as downloads through download sites like eMusic & Amazon.
According to legend, the name was given to the band in 1983 by Hüsker Dü bassist Greg Norton. Treece has said that the band was influenced by Bad Brains, Theater of Hate, The Ruts, Scream, Minor Threat and other hard edged bands of that era that were also jazz & reggae influenced. in the late 80's while McRad was on hiatus, Treece later tried out as the replacement singer for H.R in the Bad Brains, but eventually later ended up as their drummer for a spell when the group was signed to Epic.
