About Negative Response

Negative response was formed in the early 90s. It was about friendship and creating memories. Simplistic in its delivery, at neck breaking speeds, highlighted by Steve's gut wrenching vocals. Drummer Dave Butts describes the ideology behind negative response as 'serious about not being serious'. That philosophy was also a learning experience like many things. mistakes were made and learned from. This only made the band stronger. Bonded four brothers for life. This is highlighted in the lyrics of the song negative response, released on the 1993 debut DIY ep "what we have to say". In June 1993, what we have to say made it to #16 on the HMV independent chart. This made the band a staple in the Toronto Hardcore Scene. Not always well receipted by those in the peace punk scene. Negative Response refused to compromise their political integrity, which gave birth to the oi! song "fundamentals", a sharp rebuttal to the Toronto peace punk movement. Fast forward to 2013. The boys in Negative Response, tighter then ever, are rehearsing again and writing new material for an upcoming 2014 DIY ep of epic proportions. Guitarist Andre says "we're going to turn a few heads with this release. A whole lotta anger is going to spill over on these songs. Wether it be dead rumors about the band or fake friends we dealt with along the way. It's going to be violent". Integrity can never die! On that note....Negative Response can't be stopped. Hardcore Punk, anti-racist, political, posi-core.
