About Dylan J

Dylan J is disrupting the preconceived stereotype of how an artist must be attached to a single genre. As diverse as he is charming, the Melbourne based Artist/Songwriter absorbs creative inspiration from almost every genre, ranging from Rnb, Pop, Hip Hop and Country, invoking a combination of nostalgia and progressive influences in his work – Dylan is crossing genre borders left, right and centre.

After his 2015 breakthrough debut release Authentic Lemonade became triple j’s Feature Album, the love from audiences and artists alike began flooding in.

“…an ‘undeniable talent” - TheMusic.com.au

Having already amassed over 10 million global streams, Dylan has released a number of experimental records such as You Were Made To Blossom that saw him working alongside heavy hitting producers such as M-Phazes (Eminem, Demi Lovato, Remi Wolf) and Cam Bluff (Amy Shark, Hilltop Hoods), with whom Dylan co-produced Authentic Lemonade.

In 2020 Dylan sparked an honest, open conversation with his audience via the poignant and self-made acoustic EP Bad At Love. Produced and mixed entirely by Dylan, the EP featured an extreme sense of vulnerability (a rarity these days), that when coupled with the stripped back nature of each song, became the perfect indication of Dylan’s ever-evolving musical voyage.

“It's the first time I’ve really written about my romantic relationships, how obviously bad I am at them and how previously my self-confidence has played a role in that”.

As a Songwriter, Dylan offers the audience a ‘no-holes-barred’ insight into his world through his unabashed approach to topics such as love (and subsequent heartbreak), mental health struggles and the cutthroat nature of the music industry.

His versatility as a musician can be seen in his effortless blend of rap, singing and acoustic guitar. Such traits are apparent in the broad collection of collaborations and producers he works with, including his 2020 project with Tyron Hapi (Producer of Masked Wolf’s Top 10 Billboard single Astronaut In The Ocean) where Dylan featured on the major release Leave You.

Dylan’s crossover capabilities and extroverted stage presence have drawn comparisons to Ed Sheeran and Post Malone. This seemingly effortless performance magnetism has allowed for Dylan to take on an impressive list of tours with the likes of Ruel, NF, Jess Glynn and Seth Sentry’s mammoth 50-date, Strange New Past tour.

2022 sees Dylan armed with an EP that almost never saw the light of day. Executive produced by Tele Fresco, the heavyweight producer behind Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts & Rumors with Cardi B”, with the lead single “Notice Me” featuring the global superstar, Ruel met with industry support from Music Feeds, Amnplify, NME, Spotify, Apple Music. He was left with no choice but to give the fans what they want.
