About Bill Smith

Taking new steps on the grand musical journey, Bill Smith has found the ability to ferment futuristic songs with classic rock instrumentation and has been leaving music fans breathless with their heavy hitting sound. Featuring a repertoire of solid original songs seething with hooks and tastefully chosen covers, this is a band that holds a consistently high level of energy throughout their sets. Late in 2011, original Bill Smith members Ean Smith (bass)and Dan "Dank" Koebnick (guitar) would reunite, and form Bill Smith version 3.o. After originally forming in Steamboat Colorado, in 2004, the band spent a couple successful years in Chicago from 2006-2007. Bill Smith has now returned to their roots in Colorado, reformed in late 2011 after a few years off, and are now based out of Fort Collins. The next step for Dank and Ean was to find the right band members for Bill Smith, and find the right members they did. Sean MacCaulay (drums), Nick Dalessandro (saxophone and magic flute), and Dan Barto(keyboards) now round out the Bill Smith line-up. All are wonderful players, classically jazz trained, and were an obvious fit from the first jam session. The bands unique sound is a direct result of the creativity, diverse backgrounds, and level of musicianship from all of the players in the band. Also part of the Bill Smith experience is the interactive and stunning visuals created by long time lighting engineer “The Pilgrim.” The tour de force that is Bill Smith can be seen playing shows in Colorado and surrounding areas. The versatility of their sound, which incorporates a very wide variety of styles, appeals to a diverse audience. While the band incorporates so many genres of music, it has a distinct identity that anchors their music. Members of Bill Smith have performed with or opened for such national acts as: Galactic, Umphrey's Mcgee, Lotus, The String Cheese Incident, Donovan Frankenreiter, MMW, Jimmy Herring, Keller Williams, The Motet, Juno What?!, Dominic Lali and Jeremy Salken (Big Gigantic), Trombone Shorty, The New Mastersounds, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Steele Pulse, Big Head Todd & the Monsters, Great American Taxi, Beats Antique, Maktub, Cornmeal, Garage-A-Trois, Salvadore Santana. Bill Smith has also performed at festivals such as Summer Camp and 10,000 Lakes. Go see Bill Smith!!! Who the +#@&* is BILL SMITH?!?!
