About Brotherhood of the Mudkat

Brotherhood of the Mudkat was formed in the aftermath of the great Iowa flood of 2008. These three degenerates (Bill Hall – Bass/Lead Vocals, Zane Moenck – Guitars/Vocals, Robb Sanders – Drums/Vocals) found themselves washed into the same waters in February of 2009. Sensing the chemistry at their first meeting, they played their first show after just two practices. Since then, the band has played countless shows across eastern Iowa, released a ten song EP, a full length CD, and is currently in the studio recording their third release.

What can you expect when you go to a Brotherhood of the Mudkat show? What would you normally expect from a bunch of ravenous bottom feeders? It’s years and years of pent-up aggression, hunger, and underdog fueled anger all released in a sudden unexpected violent fury designed to swallow you whole. This is not polished pop. This is not a cover band. This isn’t anything like what you are normally familiar with. If you leave with mild scars count yourself among the lucky.

So you’re asking yourself “OK, but what do these dudes sound like?” With their combined years of experience, road dog sensibilities, and musical influences from all over the map, the Mudkat sound has devolved into a gritty, raunchy mix of punk and metal with traces of disjointed progressiveness, a big heap of old fashioned foot-stompin’ head-bangin’ rawk ‘n' roll with a pile of self aware humor on the side. It will make you laugh, it will make you cry. It will make you want to raise your hands in the air and be glad that you’re alive, and it will make you want to turn around and punch your little sister in the face. ALL AT THE SAME TIME. But don’t worry, once you learn to swim with the fishes you’ll get the hang of it. If you try, you will catch on.

So come on in folks…the water is fine....
