Lupe Carroll

When I was 10 I asked for an electric guitar for Christmas, and after getting it I didn't really ever put it down. I wouldn't call what I did with it practicing, but I did the best I could. I actually played it like a lap slide for about a year because I couldn't hold it right. The guitar was what got everything going. My parents had a big play in the influences of mine. They have a really good love for really good music. My dad has always really enjoyed blues, soul and classic rock. He listened to stuff like Van Morrison, Otis Redding, CCR, Pink Floyd, The Allman Brothers, just to name a few. And then my mom is really into Motown and funk and a lot of that old soulful stuff. She shared a lot of The Temptations, Al Green, and Gladys Kight with me. I grew up in a home that always had music playing. Good music that just sunk into me. After years of practicing and trying to find my voice and style I got more comfortable with playing in front of others. Although as much as I loved it, me playing music really wasn't my long-term plan, but a friend heard me at a party and invited me to play a coffee shop show with her in Orland Park, IL. The rest is honestly history from there. I had a great response despite my nervousness that night and decided after that show that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. So coffee shop shows turned into bigger shops and venues, and then on to festivals, and then The Metro in Chicago. Playing live for people and getting to share a big part of me is the best part of music. I love connecting with others and helping anyone I can through music.
