Smokey Joe & The Kid

Smokey Joe & The Kid is the association of two Beat makers from Bordeaux, passionate in Hip-Hop, bass music and groovy melodies from the 20th century. Percussion soloes played with scratch, beats and melodies performed with MPC; everything is played live.

Their singularity comes from a clear Hip Hop commitment based on samples inspired by traditional American Music repertoire.

After a first album widely approved by the listeners in 2013, and 3 EPs alongside 100 gigs all over the worlds, the two beatmakers are getting their comeback ready on the French electronic scene with all pomp and circumstance. Their second album, "Running To The Moon", will be on release on 25 March 2016 in France, and 6 May worldwide!

The raw efficiency of their 1st album "Nasty Tricks" gives way to a sweet melancholy with heady melody lines and a hazy atmosphere in this brand new opus.

Freed from the Swing to gives room to Jazz, Blues and Soul, the duo offers a more coherent and cinematic album where song and pop chorus are making their way on a road marked out by Hip Hop.

As usual, Smokey Joe & The Kid gathered their musical family around this project and collaborated with an impressive heap of artists : Fred Wesley, Pigeon John, ASM, Chill Bump, Blake Worrell, Youthstar, Charles X, Yoshi, Ua Tea, NON Genetic and DJ Netik.

THE LIVE PROJECT :

They work on a new live show with Live Electronics, live instruments (Horns section, guitare, bass, banjo, drum) featuring UK rapper MYSTRO (aka Mysdiggi) and including video performance, this new show is now ready to hit european stages in 2016.

MYSTRO (aka Mysdiggi) : Honing his craft since very young, the west London-bred Mystro aka MysDiggi has built a reputation as one of UK’s brightest and inspiringly unique vocal talents, releasing a string of critically acclaimed solo singles and EPs, as well as lending his skills to releases by a who’s who of British heavy weights, including Blak Twang, Rodney P and TY to name a few. Alltogether they advocate a strong interaction with the audience which makes this a fun, original and an incredibly dynamic show !
