About Personal Public
Personal Public began as a small creative project
between high school friends Tony Herrmann and
Jordan McVey. The project blossomed into a small
band consisting of the two and eventually added
lead singer and rhythm guitarist Cody Contner
into the mix a few years after. Shortly after meeting
Contner, Herrmann, Contner, and McVey would
begin recording an EP in a small studio in
Springfield, OH. It was in this studio where the
three-piece band would meet their future bassist,
Myles Claybourne. After releasing their EP in the
fall of 2015, the band began playing shows all over
the city of Columbus, OH, as well as surrounding
cities such as Cincinnati. After playing out for a full
year, the band took on their fifth and final member,
lead guitarist, Ben Canton. Since their advent into the Columbus music scene, the band has played many iconic venues in the Columbus area, such as the Newport music hall, Skully's Music Diner, The A&R Music Bar, The Basement, and King Ave. 5. The band has played festivals such as the Columbus Arts festival, as well as the Tiffin Music Festival, and has headlined at the Newport Music hall and at Skully's Music Diner for the 2016 CD102.5 Local Artist Showcase. The band fuses classic and alternative rock sensibilities with unmistakably catchy synth lines and inventive song-writing that propels their brand of music to new and interesting heights for the listener both live or in their own headphones. Personal Public is currently
in the process of writing their next EP which is slated to be released sometime in late 2016. Their major goals for the next two years revolve around releasing one or two more quality EPs while continuing to perform live as much as possible in Columbus, as well as surrounding cities such as Cincinnati, Cleveland, Indianapolis, and Chicago. Along with performing locally, the band has recently considered going on a small tour during the summer of 2016 to surrounding cities in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Tennessee in order to garner a much larger fan base.
