Zepherin Saint

Tribe Chief: Zepherin Saint, enigmatic producer, DJ, talent scout and owner of Tribe records, started dropping vinyl in the eighties London warehouse scene -­ lighting up the dance floor for the likes of Michael Jackson et al. In 1987 he released ‘Give Me Back Your Love Feat. Carol Leeming’ under the pseudonym ‘Boyz in Shock’ on Jack Trax -­ regarded as the first UK garage track -­ championed by Jeff mills, Tony Humphries and Frankie Knuckles. At this time he was also working the counter at London’s legendary record store Blackmarket -­ further developing his musical ear -­ before moving into label management for Azuli Records. Zepherin then set up his own production company, developing and signing deals with DreamWorks, Universal, and Def Jam in the United States. In the years that have followed, Zepherin has toured the globe extensively as a DJ, scouring unexpected places (Jeddah, Gambia, Egypt to name a few) in search of global sounds and voices to fuse together, creating his trademark electronic sound. Inevitably he started his own label and Tribe records was born. Now with well over 100 releases under it’s belt, Tribe has a unique sound that takes inspiration from world music -­ creating multi layered dance tracks that are both intoxicating and soulful.
