About Yellowgroove

Yellowgoove’s foot stomping rock ‘n’ roll was born in 2008 when guitarists Ben Embery and Mark Leybourne found the vocalist they’d been looking for. Their shared love of rock & blues music led them to singer songwriter Simon Stevens, whose fascination with mythology and folklore brought a storytelling edge to Yellowgroove. Mark and Ben found each other through a mutual love of Queens of the Stone Age, Cream and Pink Floyd. Crowding their pedal boards with an array of effects to develop a wall of harmony with a raw edge. While travelling through Latin America’s political underground scenes and experiencing the colourful guitar music developed Simon’s songwriting. The result is a mixture of folk, rock and blues grooves with melodic vocal harmonies; not forgetting that at the core of their music, a tale waiting to be told. In 2010, a gig hardened Yellowgroove exploded onto the stage at the Isle of Wight Festival, performing a Friday night set just after Midge Ure. Their music caught the attention of record producers The Animal Farm, who invited Yellowgroove to their studios to record in October 2010, the week long session in London produced three tracks, mastered by Andy Jackson, refining Yellowgroove’s sound. Strengthening their local fancbase performing at Mr Kyps and the Bournemouth O2 Academy, Yellowgroove cemented their status as a “highly respected” local band TL Sound Recordings. Capitalising on their homegrown roots, Yellowgroove began forming bonds with local bands and promoters, receiving Media recognition including BBC Introducing. Through their previous work with the British Council and environmentally focused charities, the band continually strive to increase their green, sustainable ethos, using recycled materials for CD packaging and running their van on biodiesel made from recycled waste vegetable oil. Yellowgroove will be touring this summer in support of their latest single Fading Out and will be returning to the studio at the end of the summer to record a new EP, with new drummer Chris Tybjerg bringing greater versatility and musical maturity to the band. Black Keys blues and Zeppelin folk
