First of all, the title: MORPHEAN EMPIRES is the title we chose for our full-length album and that is because of various reasons. This moniker could stand for empires of sleep, empires of dreams but also empires of the subconscious – empires that are built or planted in your mind without being realized. Topics being delt with around the globe by mass media but also through channels of social networks showing us every single day how small this world has become, but also, how depending most of us are on these streams of subconscious manipulation, breastfeeding us, the slaves of their multi-corporations led invasion of our brains privacy. Fake identities, fake profiles, fake ideologies and fake news – they lead to fake lives and fake behaviour of the consumers not in the last place… The amount of information becomes unbearable for a single individuum, which makes it even more difficult to decide, which information is necessary and which is not. On the next level one is up to decide which information is correct and which is wrong. Due to the mass of disinformation and uncontrolable content, this becomes a neverending story and a hopeless endeavour for most of the people, which in my opinion is part of the plan….a turnaround in human budgeting. Whereas centuries ago the leaders would restrict people from access to information, wisdom, science and culture, nowadays, we can witness quite the opposite. People are wasted with information 24/7, which in my opinion will have the same result as in former centuries: the leaders want a degenerated population of sheep, buying the served content cheerfully regardless of its meaning or consequences. As stated by one of my favourite lyricists in 1994 „…and in your heart, there´s nothing but fear…“ For me, it has a lot to do with propaganda, mind terrorism and mass hypnosis, but in the end it would be to easy to blame it all on the media and politics, because the way this whole organigram works is much more peculiar and complicated, because everyone of us should be able to decide, if you believe a lie or if you rather lie to yourself in order to be able to accept certain news in connection with your own standarts of thinking and behaviour. One of the biggest „influencing machines“ is created by the fact that from the day we are born, we start to die. All of us try to reach out for something in this life, to make it unique, maybe outstanding, something special, not to be like others – but in death, we are all equal, no matter what everyone has done throughout his life, which achievements someone has reached or did not succeed in doing so. The empire of death is the strongest thought that all of us keep in our minds. We live with it every day and there is no escape. Thoughts about how this topic influences our lives and minds can be found in the lyrics as well. In times of dwelling conflicts all around the globe, authorities seem to make three steps back in evolution, declaring war on intelligence, sober reflection on topics and most of all, secularism. As if a giant magnet would draw the worlds population back into the middle ages, where religion was everything and the single person simply did not exist. Although the traditional mindkeepers are loosing addicts everywhere, the more extreme sects are on the rise by injecting racism, hypocrisy, idolatry and admiration of imaginary friends, who are supposed to take responsability for people´s lives, so the mass can live in peace, but fearing the end…because your judgement awaits…. It awaits indeed, if you are stupid enough to believe these science-fiction stories from thousands of years ago, built to fool people, built to kill people, built to destroy…. Anyways, let us now take a closer look at the people who are creating „Morphean Empires“ The characters: Jaroslav Lukac: Jaro is hailing from Slovakia, where he runs his own studio, Negative Tunes, producing bands, recording music, mixing and mastering. Jaro has been a member of some local bands as FAUSTINUS, xXXx before founding RECODE THE SUBLIMINAL, his own outfit. Jaro also took part in the recordings for DARKSIDE´s latest album „Inferno“, recording most of the guitar solos on that album. Shorty after the DARKSIDE sessions Jaro asked me to contribute vocals to a song he recorded for a tentative solo project and thus, „Rites Of The Apocalypse“ was born. This song will be re-recorded for „Morphean Empires“ because it would be a pity not to use it and moreover, it was the first piece of music we created together, which in the end led me to ask Jaro if he would agree to act as the main songwriter for this project. I am glad he agreed, because I believe that with his addition, the whole thing got a lot more colours than could be expected. Of course his influences are very different from mine, but the mix of our ideas is really coming out great. By adding Jaro tot he line-up, this has become way more than a solo-album, it has become the work of at least three fanatics, is has become an equally balanced group of musicians who try to create something out of the ordinary. Alessandro Vagnoni: Alessandro is an experienced drummer from Italy, where he runs his own studio, Plaster Recording Studio. Alessandro is or has been part of numerous outfits like RESURRECTURIS, DARK LUNACY, INFERNAL POETRY, BOLOGNA VIOLENTA, TAPEWHORE and many more. I got to know Alessandro when he was filling in on drums with us in DEMOLITION, upon the recommandation of our former guitarist. Later on we worked together on the project MARGINALIA which never saw the light of day, before Alessandro joined DARKSIDE to record drums and also mix the latest album „Inferno“ at his studio. Alessandro even managed to play a few gigs with us. I am really happy about the fact that he agreed to join this project, because Alessandro´s playing and experience as a musician as well as a producer is very useful and will add even more value to „Morphean Empires“. Björn Gooßes (Killustration.com): Killustrations is an award winning design studio, founded and operated by German artist Björn Gooßes. Primarily working in the field of digital compositing, Killustrations uses a variety of techniques to create unique imagery between playful surrealism and colourful morbidity. Killustrations' interdisciplinary works range from music album and apparel artwork to logotype design, photography and basically everything else in the sphere of graphic art. I got to know Björn while being on a european tour with DEMOLITION in 1998 supporting DEATH ANGEL. Björn joined the crew for some german dates and was a very easy-going kind of guy in all aspects. Since I wanted something really different from all the DARKSIDE stuff in the past, I asked Björn if he could imagine to work for this project. I envisioned the overall concept for this album to him, but gave him more or less a free ticket for the imaginery, because I believe that people can only deliver their best stuff when they are not limited by to many requests or restrictions in creating their art. WOLFHEART feat. THE MALAVITA ANTISOCIAL CLUB started as my own solo project, but now it has become the project of three musicians who have decided to bring their energy, versatility and musical visions together to create a metal album full of different tastes and colours, also showing, that real metal can be created in the middle of Europe without having to desperately hook back on folklore or any kind of local trademarks to gain the attention of people who love metal music in general, worldwide. As you read these lines, Alessandro has started with the preproduction of his drum parts for the songs, while Jaro still brings in all his versatility and creativity in creating the last couple of songs…as soon as all songs will have their final instrumental shape, I will enter a studio to record the vocals for all the songs, before mixing will start at Alessandro´s studio. We will keep you posted about the progress of recording and maybe in a few weeks we will be ready to offer you some short clips of the recordings and some first preview of a song or two…until that stay tuned !!!
