Wild Americans

Fronted by drummer Mike Neglia and guitarist Andrew Milea, Wild Americans are a melody driven indie rock band that integrates elements of both pop and funk. The band has accredited their unique "sleepy funk" sound to a rare blend of dreamy vocal lines over a pocketed rhythm section.

The song writing duo initially formed when the two were paired together in music school in order to complete a senior thesis project. They passed. The two singers often trade off on vocals providing a refreshing balance between Neglia's traditional soulful rock voice and Milea's distinctive vocal style. When the two sing in harmony, the listener finds themselves at the essence of a sound exclusive to Wild Americans.

Wild Americans recorded their debut EP “Lighten Up” at Portrait Recording Studios in Pompton Plains, NJ with engineer John Ferrara, guitarist of acclaimed rock band Trophy Scars. After the record was released the band was afforded the opportunity to perform at some of the area’s most notable rock venues including: The Knitting Factory (BK), Brooklyn Bowl, The Studio at Webster Hall, Wonder Bar, and the Asbury Hotel main stage. Having graduated from music school together, co-founders Andrew Milea and Mike Neglia have managed to parlay that experience into a string of connections with some of New York and New Jersey’s finest musicians, and continue to enjoy their musicianship on both recordings and in live performances. The band’s most recent album was recorded at their in-home studio and is self-written, self-recorded, self-mixed, and self-produced.
