Vela

There are two artists by the name Vela.

1)Vela were an alternative rock band from Huntington Beach California USA. They released one album on the now defunct label 'The Plan AV' called 'The Argo Navis'. Shortly after they released a demo online for what was going to be a pre-cursor the their sophomore release. Shortly after nothing was heard from the band until it was announced that the band had broken up in mid 2005. Band members went on to form another alternative rock group called 'Northern' which leans more towards and acoustic sound rather than Vela's progressive sound. 2) Vela is a traditional country music singer. Her real name is Velma Ritchie Anderson. She resides in Lexington, KY, writes and records her music there. She has a talent for seeing people and their situations and putting them into words. Her last CD "Runnin With the Horses", (perfect name for living in the bluegrass) features the song "If You Can't Run With The Horses". This song is about making the best of the situation around you and rising above it. She is working on another CD "I wish I Was on That Plane", release date to be announced. She in influenced by her family of bluegrass and folk singers (Kelly Family) and (Jean Ritchie).
