Tyrants by Night

TYRANTS BY NIGHT is a Heavy Metal band from Las Vegas, NV, founded by brothers Matt and Mike O'Rourke. In the spring of 2014, they put together the first incarnation of what would become TYRANTS BY NIGHT. Things quickly collapsed after various personal problems within the band grinded production to a halt, and the brothers were left holding the project together. After a brief hiatus, Matt and Mike decided the best option for the band would be to record the music themselves. Forging ahead, with Matt taking over all the Vocal, Guitar and Bass responsibilities, Mike would continue to play drums and write the lyrics.

In the fall of 2016 the two recorded a collection of songs they created over the years. With the music being influenced by classic Heavy Metal bands such as Metallica and Iced Earth, the lyrical content is based around political deception, the ever-growing tyrannical state, addiction and personal struggles. Not shying away from opening themselves up or exposing the corruption in the world, TYRANTS BY NIGHT mixes raw emotion with thought-provoking lyrics to create a sound that has been lacking in the Heavy Metal community for quite some time. After completing the recording, they chose the title, "A Test of Patience" for their debut album, signifying their struggle to keep their music alive as well as the daily struggle of being tested by the world and its harsh realities.

In 2017 Matt and Mike felt it was time to breathe life into TYRANTS once again. After auditioning, Mark Ferry and Jay Dumas joined the band to complete the line up. Tyrants got to work playing shows and filmed their first Music Video.

In early 2018 Mike announced he had to step away from the band to focus on his family. Around that same time Matt and Jay had started working on the next batch of songs which will become the second TYRANTS album. While writing, and demoing the album, they were introduced via a mutual friend, to Josh Govang who has now stepped in and taken over for Mike behind the Drum Kit.

While rehearsing with Josh, long time friend of Matt and Jay, Skylar Voegele has stepped in and taken over the Bass duties from Mark who was let go due to creative differences. Skylar brings an inspiring new energy to the band.

With this new line up solidifed, TYRANTS is hard at work recording the second album and rehearsing for upcoming shows.

TYRANTS BY NIGHT are a throwback to the classic Heavy Metal style while providing a modern influence in their composition and lyrics. The music is strong and their message is stronger. TYRANTS BY NIGHT will save us all.
