About Turning Plates
Turning Plates are a 5 piece experimental band who have been making music together since 2010. Their releases include “The Shouting Cave“ (One of the stand out albums of the year –Sunday Herald) their debut EP “Escapism” and the award winning A side Tin Man. The band has always created thought provoking music with a strong concept to each body of work. The Shouting Cave, for example, is a collection of tales about wilderness, discovery and isolation. These stories are used as a metaphor, the underlying concept being a commentary on the development of the internet and the unprecedented effects it has had on society. The band uses a mixture of sound sources with everything from synthesizers to bass clarinets being employed to create rich soundscapes. In live performances the band regularly features up to 10 on stage musicians and to produce the spectacle and magic that all live music should be. The band has played at venues including: The Queens Hall, the Oran Mor, King Tuts and many more. Turning Plates are a Glasgow-based post rock quintet who came together to create new soundscapes and introduce fresh textures to contemporary music.
