About Tom Baz

Tom Baz was born in 1973 in Brooklyn, New York and raised in the pine barrens of southern New Jersey. The son of an Air force man and seasoned New York bull rider, Tom was exposed to a diverse music collection from an early age. Artists like Elvis Presley, Jim Croce, the Rolling Stones, Don Williams, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Sr. and Jr., Lynyrd Skynyrd, George Strait, and Keith Whitley were staples in the Baz home. Tom attributes his diverse taste in music to his entire family, but mostly to a father and older brother who is also a musician and artist. The musical influences don't stop with country though as Tom's unique sound also comes from listening to rock bands such as Rush, the Stray Cats, and Van Halen. Growing up with a mother, sister and Aunt who filled the home with constant song young Tom couldn't help but be inspired to sing. As an adult Tom has added Chris Isaac, Keith Gattis, Tracy Lawrence, Dwight Yoakam, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Dale Watson, BR549, Hank III, Tracy Byrd, and Jamey Johnson to his playlist. His biggest influence as a writer has to be Radney Foster, formerly of Foster and Lloyd and writer of such hits as "Just Call Me Lonesome", "Nobody Wins", the Keith Urban hit, "Raining On Sunday", & Sara Evan's, "A Real Fine Place".
