About The Zealous Friars

The Zealous Friars are a group of college guys who share a deep devotion to creating music that surpasses their age. However, sitting down with the band, one realizes that these guys have a great friendship beyond their music. It is hard to describe a character such as Will “Wild Bill” Massey. He’s obsessed with any kind of music, as well as the philosophical writings of Freud and Locke. He’s also tall, lanky, and way too analytical. Overall, a fantastic drummer and an overall interesting person to talk to. Outgoing and amiable, Mitchell Parrish brings a great creative energy to the band. His influence extends beyond his bass, helping write some of the creative guitar you hear, as well as some of the lyrics. The lead guitarist, Davis Hudson, has an uncanny obsession with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and their former guitarist John Frusciante. Consider this: he has over 700 songs by those two artists on his iTuens. Oh yeah, and he’s also a pretty good blues guitarist. The unquestioned leader of the Zealous Friars, A.C. can sing, write lyrics, play guitar, drums, banjo, and even a little harmonica if you ask him to. He also brought a briefcase to the band’s photo shoot, and we’re still trying to figure out why. A fascinating array of influences have helped shape the band’s sound. The best way to describe our sound is a combination of Jack Johnson and Bon Iver on acoustic guitar, Dan Auerbach on electric guitar, an offspring of Dave Matthews and Caleb Followill (assuming they mated) on vocals, with Chris Martin writing the lyrics. With these influences, the Zealous Friars have been able to create a unique sound that mixes hard-driving blues guitar over acoustic melodies and AC’s easy-going vocals. Themes such as love, women, death, and even the end of days permeate the lyrics you will hear on the See What Happens EP. EP available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, etc. www.twitter.com/zealousfriars www.reverbnation.com/thezealousfriars1
