The Westward Spirit

The Westward Spirit is a new project from a guy who has spent the last ten years playing in punk rock bands and recently found himself without one. When offered a show by a friend’s band in January 2014, Garik Niffenegger wrote a handful of new songs, came up with a name, recorded, and released a two song EP by the second week of February. “Chemical Imbalance serves as the ideal introduction to Niffenegger’s new project. Musically, it comes across as incredibly realized and nuanced, which I think has a lot to do with Niffenegger taking over the reins and putting it together all on his own.” – In The AM Music The new EP, titled Chemical Imbalance, contains two heartfelt, Midwestern punk rock songs. All the instrumentation on the record was performed by Niffenegger. The lyrics focus on simple things like love and aspiration, and are set to the tune of driving punk rock anthems. “I was excited to see the direction Garik took with this new project.
