http://thetommyguns.bandcamp.com When watching The Tommyguns perform, you can't help but notice that they are in sync with each other on a much deeper level than most bands. Darby, Jason and Denny seem to just hop up on the stage and have fun while their energetic and catchy tunes blast out of the speakers. It is almost inevitable that everyone in the room has to get up and dance to their mix of surf, punk, rockabilly. Once you've seen them play, you will be asking them where and when they will perform next. A cosmic event occured back in 2001 when Jason was practicing with his band. His bandmate's girlfriend brought her brother Darby to practice.When Darby walked into the room, his eyes met Jason's glance and it was over. They were soulmates. This was the beginning of their journey towards forming what is now known as The Tommyguns. Ok, maybe it didn't go down exactly like that, but it was pretty close. Over the next 8 years Jason and Darby were in 4 bands together prior to the beginning The Tommyguns. They played punk, ska/reggae, new wave and rockabilly before they settled on the surf, punk, rockabilly style of The Tommyguns in 2009. Practicing together in a family members' garage in the woods, The Tommyguns have honed their sound to become a fantastically talented band. Their high energy has a great way of inviting their audience in to enjoy their shows as much as they do. These guys truly love what they do, and it's hard not to get up and join in on the fun. The Tommyguns have played in numerous venues in Columbus including; Hal & Al's, The Shrunken Head, Skully's, Circus, Bernie's, and will be playing the upcoming Comfest 2012. Some of their influences include; Vegas 66, Reverend Horton Heat, The Ventures, Dick Dale, and of course the great Elvis Presley.
