The Second

The Second was formed out of different musical influences that came together like awkward puzzle pieces to create a surprisingly cohesive work that meshes the likes of Radiohead, the Jealous Sound, Sunny Day Real Estate, and As Tall As Lions, to name a few. "We wanted to do something that incorporated a little bit of each of us," says singer Tim Whicker of their new EP 'Long Way Down'. "You can hear bits and pieces of the bands that we grew up with on this album. It's kind of nostalgic to us." The band also does things their own way. "We created the label and publishing company, Ghost Signs Music, because we always want to have complete control over where our songs go and how they get into the hands of people who listen to us," says guitarist Ryan Shaw. "We're trying to do everything independently from the ground up." Last year, they played a few big shows, even a sell out at the House of Blues in Chicago, but mainly focused on recording. Guitarist Bill Vose says, "This year we're going all out. Everything is in place, we finally have our record finished, and we're ready to go. We hope everyone out there is ready, too."
