About The Sailmakers

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_sailmakers RYAN MADDEN TESS DONOVAN RICK FURNESS MARK REDMAN BBC Introducing - ''Big things coming for The Sailmakers!" GetIntoThis - Siphoning ounces of that baggy swagger from the spectacular Urban Hymns, and pumping their own brand of mellow psych into the mix, The Sailmakers give us another taste of what they’re made of, and they’re proving a force to be reckoned with. There’s a calm yet persistent energy running through Mountain Song, the band have a direction, but they’re in no hurry, slowing it down to an easy stroll but harnessing an excellent groove. It’s a cracking blending of 60’s psych throwback, The Babe Rainbow, a steady dose of Brit-Pop and a stir of the more serious, sense-boggling work of Toy. XSNOISE - "In the short time since putting their heads above the parapet in 2012, the Sailmakers folk rock sound has changed somewhat and has seen a shift towards the purple haze side of the airwaves. A lot of groups are jumping on the bandwagon of the modern psych movement with some fantastic bands out there slinging audible dope and its the massive shot in the arm that British music needs. Preach Preach Preach has a definite groove on guitar with a kick ass melody that instantly has your head nodding along and although the signature reverb effects are plain to hear, the main guitar riff maintains a high degree of clarity and not so much of the haze side of things. The wider sounds seem to redress this and with lyrics like “On the astral plane I’ve got a lion to tame” there’s plenty going on for all you day trippers to get your teeth into. Overall a cracking tune that’s well worth a listen and if the material that’s forthcoming is more of the same then we will be giving it a good spin." Expatspost - ''Think of Tarnation and Stone Roses when you ask me to describe their sound. The structure of their music gives more emphasis on the meditative rhythm. The Sailmakers are definately the kind of band you need to listen to when you are into dreampop, shoegazer bands and 60s psychedelia." Jumbo Records - "Wow! Loving the lushness of this...It reminds me of a lost 60's album by the Gentle Soul and also the wonderous Michael Head And The Strands...Music that makes you drift away in a smoky haze, top notch mood-enhancing songwriting and playing that'll leave you wanting more." Jumbo Records - Creaking Ships EP Review - ''Creaking Ships and Midnight Whisky' With Michael Head esque songwriting, lovely use of vocal harmonies, and a vibrant, heartfelt, musical backdrop. Its a magical potion of british brilliance spanning sunshine pop to indie." iPlayatnight - ''I can’t praise this band enough. Eagerly anticipating an album release!" Leeds Music Scene - "The patient composition is reminiscent of a film soundtrack in its restraint and scope providing a fitting end to an evening of well thought out, well executed music demonstrating the talent of the songwriters working the Leeds circuit at present.'' CROON - "Leeds based The Sailmakers are a folk-rock band that are definitely worth noticing if this single is anything to go by. Things do indeed seem bright for this band.'' Yorkshire Music Collective - "I first saw them a few years ago as a 3 piece acoustic act and was impressed by the lead singers voice and the lyrical content of the songs. I expect to be seeing much more of this band, with their strong set and melodic, well thought out songs." Sound Stand - "The Sailmakers hail from Leeds and bring with them a charming Northern rawness to the folk scene. With their warm guitar picking and echoey choral yet masculine vocals, they are gaining momentum and popular acclaim." Going Underground is Entertainment - "The Sailmakers are a new band hailing from Leeds in the UK who are specialists in creating powerful, alt-rock music. The band, influenced by the likes of Shack and The Stone Roses, have a folk-rock style implemented across their tracks and on the track 'Like A River', the band show this more than ever with a sublime guitar piece combined with a progressive drum beats and impressive vocals." The Devil Has The Best Tuna - ''The haunting, evocative, gentle folk of Granny Knot, which sounds like the Coral reworking All About Eve's Martha's Harbour, merely seals the deal. Like A River and Only The Sky sound like they've been grown organically on the Yorkshire Moors, they couldn't be more English if they had an allotment and drank Yorkshire tea from a cracked mug.''
